About

Shari Folasade

Born in 1987, in Auckland New Zealand. Moved to Brisbane, Australia at the age of 16. Enjoyed art in high school and did private music lessons in piano. Left high school at 17 and became a fulltime mother of 4 children by the age of 30. Worked in hospitality for 2 years and decided to go back to Art school in 2019, studying at Tafe Southbank located in Brisbane.

From there decided to pursue her creative goals in becoming an artist.

Style & Technique

When painting I prefer quick loose expressive style painting as it prevents me from over analysing the process. I enjoy applying many layers of paint to create depth and texture depending on the composition.

Similar to drawing techniques where I use quick and expressive gestural style drawing.

With landscapes I enjoy a more slow style of blending using different tools for with multiple effects.

Medium

For painting I enjoy using acrylic paint for fast application and setting time for multiple layers of painting. I also like to use sponges for fast gestural style painting

Q:What inspired you to study Art?

”I was inspired to study art from a deeper calling to reawaken my creativity. Exploring my gifts and creative abilities gave me more confidence and motivation to further my studies.”

Q: What was your main goal and focus in Art?

“My goal was to complete my cert 3 after realizing I had a passion for art and to continue with studying. Once I completed my diploma, I made a return to study my bachelor's degree .”

Q: What do you enjoy most about the creative arts learning space?

“Every time I am in this space I feel a sense of home and a sense of peace knowing that I am embarking on a new journey of exploring the unknown territories of my creativity aswell as finding inspiration and connecting with other artists”.
